Bucket cylinder,Arm cylinder,Boom cylinder Nov 22, 2023

A hydraulic excavator's operation body has the following three cylinders starting from the bottom; "boom cylinder", "arm cylinder", and "bucket cylinder".

What is the function of arm cylinder in excavator?

The cylinders function like the biceps and triceps of the machine, providing the power to move the arm in different directions. The control valves act like the machine's brain, directing the flow of hydraulic fluid to the various parts of the arm.

The arm cylinder moves the dipper arm front and back, toward and away from the cab. This is usually the largest cylinder on the machine.

What is the boom cylinder on a excavator?

The boom cylinders are responsible for lifting the entire boom up and down. On larger machines it is common that there will be two boom cylinders, one on either side of the boom.

What is the function of bucket cylinder?

Bucket cylinder: These cylinders are used to power the movement of the bucket, that is located on the end of the dipper arm. Bucket cylinders are typically smaller than boom cylinders and are used to move the bucket and to control its angle during excavation.

The Bucket cylinder curls the bucket forward and backward. Also referred to as the dump cylinder.
