Mini excavators or also called mini dozers are designed to work within confined spaces in urban job sites, for landscaping or large scale gardening or for pipe laying and land grading, etc. Also mini excavators are often considered safer in crowded work locations since they have such a limited swing radius.
1 - Check for Operator Comfort. Due to their smaller size, compact or mini excavators have a premium in space for the operator. You need to check of the entrance pathways and handholds to determine if all the members of your crew will be able get out quickly in case of an emergency. Look for adjustable suspension seats with comfortable seat belts. Check out the positioning of the controls for maximum efficiency and continuous operation.
2 - Check the Swing Radius. Look for a mini dozer that has a small a swing radius a possible to get the job done. The smaller the radius the more the operator can focus on the job in front of him without becoming distracted concerning rear swing accidents in very confined spaces.
3 - Check out the Physical Size. You want a compact dozer that combines a small overall size but has a fairly good load capacity while still maintaining stability. So you need to find one that strikes a balance between a larger "footprint" for stable operations vs. it being too big for some applications.
4 - Check out the attachments used mini excavators. One of the best things about this type of heavy equipment is its versatility. These compact machines can be used in a variety of different construction applications. You can purchase such attachments from the standard blades, to buckets, thumbs and grapples.
5 - Check out the tracks. The tracks on a mini excavator are very important since the more tracks that on the ground at one time, the better the stability and the less machine pitch you may experience. So you need to find as long a track as possible in order to have a more stable work platform.
6 - Finally check out the blade. The blade is probably the most critical attachment you will buy. The weight and balance of the machine is determined a deal by the weight of the blade. Remember you may have use counterweights for balance during certain projects.
Remember to take in consideration the above mentioned points when buying used mini excavators.
